Mission Statement

Since its establishment in 1988, the McCombs School Center for Research in Electronic Commerce (CREC) has served as an incubator for breakthrough research blending business and computer science, and is recognized today as the leading research institution in Information Systems research. Needless to say, dramatic technological change since the 80’s is transforming the world of business by creating new challenges and opportunities. The research staff at CREC is uniquely equipped to address these issues on behalf of the business community.

11/30/2009 - Dr. Whinston will give a talk on using Twitter as research tool at the University of British Columbia on Friday, May 21st. You can find his presentation here.

November 30, 2009:  Huaxia Rui, Andrew Whinston and Elizabeth Winkler published an article in the Wall Street Journal in collaboration with MITSloan Management Review on how companies can use Twitter to predict future sales.
